Hydro-Jetting vs. Snaking a Sewer Line: Which Do You Need?
Snaking (cabling)
A rotating cable punches a hole through a blockage to restore flow. It is quick and good for a single soft clog.
Hydro-jetting
High-pressure water scours the full pipe wall, flushing grease, scale, sludge, and cut roots out of the line.
When jetting is not a good idea
Badly deteriorated or collapsed pipe can be damaged further. A camera look before jetting shows whether the pipe can handle it.
Clearing vs. fixing
Both methods clear a line. Neither repairs a crack, offset joint, or belly, which is why repeat clogs call for an inspection.
