Sewer Line Belly: What It Is and How It's Fixed
What a belly is
A belly is a low spot where a section of pipe has sunk below the correct slope. Water and solids settle there instead of flowing out.
Why it happens here
Expansive clay soil common in Tarrant County swells when wet and shrinks in drought. That movement, along with poor original bedding, can let pipe sections settle.
Symptoms
Slow drains and clogs that return after cleaning, especially when the camera shows standing water over a stretch of pipe.
Repair options
Lining does not correct slope, so a significant belly usually needs that section excavated, re-bedded, and replaced, or the line re-routed. Minor sags may only need monitoring.
